1. La cabane du Cerro
Lola cabane du Cerro : Planted in the middle of nature,
this refreshment bar with terrace is the perfect stop for hikers who descend the Bossons glacier. The reception is more than charming,
and we taste here dishes, exclusively cooked with the products

2. Le Coeur Alpin
Close to the «La Logère» chairlift, this restaurant in Crest Voland focuses on traditional mountain cuisine.
Among the chef’s specialties: the veal head, the pot-au-feu,
the tartiflette and the Bäkeoffe: a mixture of potatoes, vegetables
and meats to take strength on the slopes.

3. Le Café Comptoir
The Café Comptoir is a must in Vallorcine, the last French village
before the Swiss border. A mixture of times and flavours,
it is also famous for welcoming retro ski enthusiasts every year
during the famous Comptoir des Légendes du Ski.
The Café Comptoir, 10 years old, welcomes you with good humour
and a typical cuisine enhanced with modernism, simply delicious.
The atmosphere is made of the same wood as the setting, joyful
and warm. An authentic and contemporary restaurant with a sunny terrace in the heart of the historic village but also two steps away
from the departure station of the brand new cable car.
It is as if everything at the Café Comptoir was a link between the past and the present. The Café des Légendes du Ski, organised
in partnership with Rossignol, is a meeting place for vintage ski enthusiasts. From the thirties to the seventies, some beautiful eras
are honoured. Please note: the Café Comptoir is closed from mid-May to mid-June and from mid-October to mid-December.

4. Tré la Tête Refuge
From Les Contamines, it is a two hour walk through the beautiful nature of the Val Montjoie to reach this illustrious refuge situated
at an altitude of 1970 meters and built a few years earlier – keeping
the same figures – in 1907. Situated on a vast promontory, it stands
on the threshold of the high mountains and the Mont Blanc massif
and gives access to some great mountaineering routes, including
the famous Dômes de Miages. It is also the starting point
for magnificent hiking loops and quickly leads to some very beautiful climbing routes. Marielle Tuaz, the caretaker, perpetuates this warm welcome which has contributed to the reputation of the refuge
for over a century. Just like the comfort provided at such an altitude with the possibility of taking individual rooms. A return trip for the day to enjoy lunch or a home-made pie is also highly recommended.

5. Auberge du Père Bize
Easily accessible from Chamonix or Geneva, the Auberge du Père Bize has been refreshing and restoring Lake Annecy lovers since 1903.
Chef Jean Sulpice and his wife Magali took over and transformed
the place in 2016, recreating this space-time continuum between
an exceptional place and a certain art of living. A two-star gastronomic restaurant or an authentic restaurant inherited from the inn, a terrace bar on the lake, a spa and a 5-star hotel, each one has its preference. An enchanting stopover which inevitably sells a little bit the slate according to the gustatory flight, but one can also have a quiet drink with something to eat at a reasonable cost.

6. Le Petit Paradis
The unique atmosphere of the shores of Lake Annecy with a very nice menu without exaggeration, a terrace open on the water,
the benevolent presence of trees, all sheltered from the wind,
the Petit Paradis has not stolen its name. It is in the protected cove
of Talloire, on the right bank of the lake and 12 kilometres from Annecy. You can swim in the summer, laze on the pontoon after having enjoyed a fillet of Féra à la grenobloise or ribs of beef à la coréenne.

7. The Gilles Berlioz Winery
In Chignin, Gilles Berlioz runs a shared vineyard from which 25,000 bottles of wine are produced per year. Author’s wines biodynamically, perfumed and with character, which have become a true must-see
in the region. In the same village, Gilles’ cousin, Adrien, has been holding 5 hectares since 2006, always biodynamic, from where
come out precious and sincere red and white wines.

8. Chalet Refuge de Lognan
In Argentière, the Charlet brothers are the guardians of this stone chalet dating back to the early 20th century. Perched at an altitude
of 2,032 m, the site offers a view of the bottom of the valley
and of the Aiguille Verte. Here you can sleep and eat dishes to warm your heart and soul.

1. Lo Riondet
In the skiing area of La Thuile, this highland restaurant offers good Italian mountain cuisine: polenta is the star of the menu, with Aosta Valley style veal stew, chamois civet and vegetable ratatouille.

2. The Didier Gerbelle vineyard
The gold standard white wine of the Aosta Valley. A vineyard owned
by the same family for over a century and that produces only 15,000 bottles a year.

3. La Maison de Noé
In the heart of Arnad, a peaceful village in the lower Aosta Valley,
is the Maison de Noé. This traditional house nestled under a wave
of greenery is run by Andréa, a guide who is passionate about
his region. He will advise you on a walk in the surroundings or the best climbing routes in Machaby at your level. Arnad is a must for all climbing enthusiasts. The area can be divided into two sections:
the “moulinettes” and the “grandes voies” on a marvellous gneiss sculpted above the Val d’Aoste, before an aperitif in one of the village’s inns accompanied by delicious slices of lard that melt in the mouth. Bacon is the other speciality of Arnad, the only PDO in Europe,
which holds its own festival in the village at the end of August.

The Féhta dou lar, as the name suggests, is held on the last weekend of August. The festival takes place in the Keya, in a clearing that houses small wooden chalets, decorated for the event with flowers and embroidered hemp cloths. It is a gastronomic event, but also includes theatre performances, dances, games, races, etc.
4. La Maison Giasson
A traditional mountain chalet located in the beautiful Val Grisenche,
a side valley of the Val d’Aosta, La Maison Giasson welcomes you all year round. Accessible by car in the summer, the arrival of the snow requires a nice walk on skis or snowshoes from the hamlet
of Mondanges. A local cuisine with Italian sobriety, five comfortable rooms as we like them, summer walks and winter hikes everywhere you look. And if you arrive too late in winter, one of the owner’s friends will meet you at the “bar de l’Aouille” to drive you there
with an adapted vehicle. When you love, you don’t count.

5. Leon Doro
On the shores of Lake Orta, in the beautiful town of the same name, this institution, as much for its location on the water as for its refined cuisine, is a highly recommended stop. Orta is an exuberant Renaissance and Baroque town with sumptuous mansions
and beautiful gardens. Opposite the restaurant, the small island
of San Giulio, accessible by boat or motorboat, is dominated
by the Romanesque basilica, the episcopal palace and the Benedictine abbey.
The gentle waters of the lake are the perfect accompaniment to osso bucco or risoto alla Milanese. Let the fullness work.

6. Dalla Dispensa
The pantry is a must if you are passing by to fill the van’s canteens
with lovingly made, nature-friendly Italian products.
Two stalls, one in Salò, on the shores of Lake Garda, the other
in Vanzone con San Carlo, at the foot of Monte Rosa, welcome you
to taste local dishes of the day or to stock up on bread, biscuits, sauces, jams, wines, juices, preserves, herbs, desserts… finely prepared

7. Bar Anaïs
Before or after climbing up the icefalls in Lillaz, meet at this café
and restaurant oozing rustic charm. The owners, Angela and Rosito, serve excellent sandwiches and the best pick-me-ups of the day. Check the Waterfall Journal before starting your adventure.

8. Rifugio Maison Vieille
On the ski trails of Courmayeur, this is a mountaineering institution operated for the past 30 years by Giacomo Calosi. People stop here
for prosecco and lamb chops, the chef’s specialty.
